Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernardino County
Tiburcio Tapia received the Cucamonga land grant in 1839 and planted grapevines soon after, starting a wine business that would define the valley for a century. By the early 1900s vineyards covered much of the plain below the mountains. Most have given way to homes, but a few old-vine plots and winery buildings remain in Rancho Cucamonga.
